Dhātu is often translated as element.

Element has the problem that it can easily be taken the wrong way, as a chemical element or organic substance. While when I say ‘there is an element of danger to it’ it is immediately understood differently. And there are those of lust, of abstinence, of anger, etc. (f.i. AN 6.111). To avoid the misunderstanding, better use aspect instead.
