Aññatitthiyasuttaṃ
'If with, almsmen, wanderers from another tradition, they would ask so: 'These three, Mr, principles. Which three? Passion, hate, delusion. OK these, Mr, three principles. Of these, Mr, three principles, what is the distinction? what is the peculiarity? what is making the so and so?'
You so asked, almsmen, of them, from the wanderers from another tradition, thus what would you answer?'
'Our principles are, venerable, rooted in the exalted one, guided by the exalted, have the exalted one as resort. As good custom, venerable, may the exalted one just so illuminate the settlement of this talk. Having heard from the exalted one the almsmen will endorse it.'
'By that, almsmen, hear, pay attention well, I shall talk.'
OK, so those almsmen replied to the exalted one:
'Venerable'
The exalted one said this:
'If with, almsmen, wanderers from another tradition, they would ask so:
'These three, Mr, principles. Which three? Passion, hate, delusion. OK these, Mr, three principles. Of these, Mr, three principles, what is the distinction? what is the peculiarity? what is making the so and so?'
You so asked, almsmen, of them, from the wanderers from another tradition, you should answer so: 'OK, Mr, Passion, small blame, slow fading. Hate, great blame, quick fading. Delusion, great blame, slow fading.'
'Yet Mr, what is the reason, what the support, there where or unarisen passion arise or passion arisen leads to increase, to abundance?'
'Indication of attractiveness' is to be voiced. 'For that indication of attractiveness, from paying improper attention or unarisen passion arises or arisen passion leads to increase, to abundance. OK this, Mr, is the reason, the support, there where or unarisen passion arises or arisen passion leads to increase, to abundance.'
'Yet Mr, what is the reason, what the support, there where or unarisen hate arise or hate arisen leads to increase, to abundance?'
'Indication of friction' is to be voiced. 'For that indication of friction, from paying improper attention or unarisen hate arises or arisen hate leads to increase, to abundance. OK this, Mr, is the reason, the support, there where or unarisen hate arises or arisen hate leads to increase, to abundance.'
'Yet Mr, what is the reason, what the support, there where or unarisen delusion arise or delusion arisen leads to increase, to abundance?'
'Improper attention' is to be voiced. 'For that paying improper attention or unarisen delusion arises or arisen delustion leads to increase, to abundance. OK this, Mr, is the reason, the support, there where or unarisen delusion arises or arisen delusion leads to increase, to abundance.'
'Yet Mr, what the reason, what the support, there where and like unarisen passion not arises and arisen passion is gotten rid of?'
'Indication of unattractiveness' is to be voiced. For that indication of unattractiveness, from paying proper attention, and like unarisen passion not arises and arisen passion is gotten rid of. OK this, Mr, the root, this the support, there where and like unarisen passion not arises and arisen passion is gotten rid of.'
'Yet Mr, what the reason, what the support, there where and like unarisen hate not arises and arisen hate is gotten rid of?'
'Lovingness as the mentality for emancipation' is to be voiced. For that lovingness as the emancipation by mentality, from paying proper attention, and like unarisen hate does not arise and arisen hate is gotten rid of. OK this, Mr, the root, this the support, there where and like unarisen hate does not arise and arisen hate is gotten rid of.'
'Yet Mr, what the reason, what the support, there where and like unarisen delusion does not arise and arisen delusion is gotten rid of?'
'Paying proper attention' is to be voiced. For that from paying proper attention and like unarisen delusion does not arise and delusion is gotten rid of. OK this, Mr, the root, this the support, there where or unarisen delusion does not arise and delusion is gotten rid of'.'
