Abyākatasaṃyuttaṃ
Paṭhamasāriputtakoṭṭhikasuttaṃ
On one occasion and senior Sāriputta and senior Mahākoṭṭhika dwell at the deer park at Isipatana, at Bārānasi. OK then senior Mahakoṭṭhika, on an evening occasion, returned from seclusion approached there where senior Sāriputta was. Having approached senior Sāriputta they greeted together. After having exchanged the cordially howdy greet he sat down at one end. OK, at one end seated senior Mahākoṭṭhika said this to senior Sāriputta:
'OK what now, Mr Sāriputta, is the Tathāgata from death further?'
'OK this is not made forward, Mr, by the exalted one 'The Tathāgata is from death further'.'
'What yet Mr, is not the Tathāgata from death further?'
'Also this, Mr, is not made forward by the exalted one 'The Tathāgata is not from death further'.'
'OK what now, Mr, and is and is not the Tathāgata from death further?'
'OK this is not made forward, Mr, by the exalted one 'The Tathāgata and is and is not from death further'.'
'Yet Mr what, neither is nor is not the Tathāgata from death further?'
'Also this, Mr, is not made forward by the exalted one 'The Tathāgata neither is nor is not from death further'.'
'OK what now, Mr, 'Is the Tathāgata from death further?' thus being asked, 'OK this is not made forward, Mr, by the exalted one 'The Tathāgata is from death further'' you say ... re ... OK now what, Mr, is the root, what is the support, by which this is not made forward by the exalted one?'
'Is the Tathāgata from death further' OK, Mr, this is about gone form. 'Is not the Tathāgata from death further' this is about gone form. 'And is and is not the Tathāgata from death further' this is about gone form. 'Neither is nor is not the Tathāgata from death further' this is about gone form. 'Is the Tathāgata from death further' OK, Mr, this is about gone feeling ... this is about gone perception ... this is about gone inclinations ... this is about gone cognition. OK this is, Mr, the root, this the support, by which this is not made forward by the Tathāgata.'
