OK then senior Upavāṇo approached there where senior Sāriputta was. Having approached senior Sāriputta they greeted together. Having exchanged the cordial howdy greet he sat down at one end. OK, at one end seated senior Upavāṇo said this to senior Sāriputta:
'OK what now, Mr Sāriputta, is knowing making the end?'
'Not for this one, Mr.'
What, yet Mr Sāriputta, is conduct making the end?'
'Not for this one, Mr.'
'What, yet Mr Sāriputta, is knowing plus conduct making the end?'
'Not for this one, Mr.'
'What, yet Mr Sāriputta, is it otherwise than by knowing plus conduct making the end?'
'Not for this one, Mr.'
'OK what now, Mr Sāriputta, 'is knowing making the end?' thus being asked, 'Not for this one, Mr' you say. What, yet Mr Sāriputta, 'is conduct making the end?' thus being asked, 'Not for this one, Mr' you say. What, yet Mr Sāriputta, 'is knowing plus conduct makeing the end?' thus being asked, 'Not for this one, Mr' you say. What, yet Mr Sāriputta, 'is it otherwise than by knowing plus conduct making the end?' thus being asked, 'Not for this one, Mr' you say. As how, yet Mr, is making the end?'
'If by knowing, Mr, making the end would be, making the end would be being just with the taking up. If by conduct, Mr, making the end would be, making the end would be being just with the taking up. If by knowing plus by conduct, Mr, making the end would be, making the end would be being just with the taking up. If otherwise than by knowing plus conduct, Mr, making the end would be a commoner would be making the end. For the commoner, Mr, is it otherwise than by knowing plus conduct. OK lacking conduct, Mr, essentially one is not familiar, one does not see. Complete in conduct essentially one is familiar, one does see. Essentially is familiarizing, seeing, making the end.'
